ABOUT OUR SWIMWEAR DEVELOPMENT
Swimwear Developed Around Fit, Fabric and Intended Use
Sew Apparels develops swimwear with separate patterns for fitted stretch-knit suits and woven swim shorts. Coverage, movement, lining and edge construction guide each sample. We review size charts, fabric behaviour and decoration together, then document the approved materials and measurements so each garment follows its own agreed production standard.

Fabric Options for Swimwear and Swimming Suits
Select swimwear materials around the garment’s stretch, coverage and intended use. Fitted suits require body knit and lining compatibility, while swim shorts follow a separate woven route. These fabric options depend on approved swatches, sourcing and buyer specifications; chlorine resistance, UV protection or recycled-content claims require evidence for selected materials.
Polyester-Elastane Knit
Check suit-knit recovery, opacity and colour with approved lining and fit.
Nylon-Elastane Knit
Match smooth knit weight and stretched coverage to body panels and elastic finish.
Polyester Woven Shell
Specify swim-short shell weight, handfeel and pocket construction separately from fitted suits.
Nylon Woven Shell
Check swim-short shell feel, seams and compatibility with the approved waistband.
Stretch Swimwear Lining
Match fitted-suit lining coverage and stretch to the body knit and fit.
Mesh Liner Fabric
Review woven-short liner mesh feel, opening size and attachment on sewn samples.
Custom Branding and Finishing for Swimwear
Private-label swimwear combines fabric-compatible decoration, comfortable labels and coordinated retail packing. Approve logos and placement on each knit or woven style, with care wording, size codes and finishing details confirmed before bulk production begins.

Our Swimwear Development and Production Process
Share your suit or swim-short references, graded measurements and material requirements. We review knit or woven sourcing, develop separate patterns and prepare fit samples. Approve lining, elastic, artwork and any agreed textile tests before the pre-production standard is signed. Cutting, sewing, inspection and export packing then follow documented style codes, quantities and buyer-approved construction details for each garment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MOQ for swimwear?
Our working minimum is 500 pieces per design and colour for a new single-piece style, subject to fabric sourcing. The existing swim-shorts page quotes 1,500 pieces for custom fabric; the final MOQ is confirmed per style.
Can fitted suits and swim shorts be made in one programme?
Yes, they can be developed as a coordinated collection with shared colours and branding. Fitted knit suits and woven shorts still need separate patterns, material routes, samples and quantities. Confirm each garment’s specifications and production allocation before approving the combined order.
Are all swimwear fabrics chlorine resistant or UV rated?
No. Chlorine resistance and UV protection are test-dependent properties, not automatic features of a fibre or garment category. Provide the required method, threshold and evidence scope so suitable materials can be reviewed. Claims must relate to the actual assessed fabric or style.
Can private-label branding be added?
Buyer-owned logos, prints, suitable transfers and labels can be assessed for each style. Decoration must suit the selected knit or woven fabric and its stretch behaviour. Approve placement, appearance, care wording and retail packaging on samples before the artwork enters bulk production.
How is a one-piece suit fit checked?
Samples are compared with the approved chart for torso length, chest or bust, waist, hip and leg opening. Representative sizes are reviewed for coverage and movement, including strap tension. Optional cups or shelf linings require their own specification and sample approval.
Can swim shorts include liners or pockets?
Optional liners and pockets can be reviewed as part of the swim-short brief. Specify materials, placement, opening and attachment details, then assess comfort and the agreed drainage route on an assembled sample. These components may affect cost, sourcing and the final construction.
What are normal sample and production lead times?
Sampling is generally discussed as 10–15 days after a complete brief and available materials. Bulk is often 15–30 days after pre-production approval and material readiness. Custom fabric, fit revisions or testing can extend timing, so confirm the actual style-specific schedule in writing.
How are finished swimwear garments packed?
Finished garments follow the buyer-approved folding, individual protection and carton instructions. Confirm style, colour and size identification, labels, barcode placement and pack ratios before shipment. Keep knit suits and woven shorts clearly itemised so coordinated collections do not create mixed-style packing errors.

Swimwear Development by Silhouette and Intended Use
A swimwear collection needs a separate specification for each silhouette. Fitted one-piece suits rely on stretch and torso fit, while loose swim shorts require a different shell, waistband and leg-opening construction.
Start with reference garments, the intended wearer, coverage and graded measurements. Agree which pieces use knit or woven materials before reviewing lining, trims, artwork and the quantities required for each colour and size.
Physical samples should establish movement and coverage across representative sizes. A coordinated colour story can link the collection, but it does not make men’s, women’s and youth garments interchangeable patterns or identical fit blocks.
Document the approved sample and material choices before bulk planning. Any requested chlorine, UV or other performance statement needs its own evidence; the product category alone does not establish a tested result for every garment.
Fabric and Lining Options for Swimwear
Polyester-elastane and nylon-elastane knits are options for fitted swimming suits. Compare actual swatches for weight, extension, recovery and opacity, then assess the selected lining with the body fabric on a sewn sample.
Woven polyester or nylon shells may suit swim shorts, with an optional mesh liner specified separately. Our swim shorts product page provides a related sourcing reference, not an interchangeable specification for fitted knit suits.
Colour and print approval should use the actual material. Review wet and stretched coverage where required, and keep shell, lining and elastic references together so substitutions do not quietly alter the approved garment.
For recycled-content requests, agree supplier documentation and the applicable scope. Textile Exchange standards offer context, but a link is not product certification; confirm the evidence attached to the selected material and order.
Neckline, Strap and Waistband Construction
Fitted suits need neckline, strap and leg-opening finishes matched to the body knit and lining. Review elastic width, attachment and tension on the assembled garment so edges follow the approved coverage without excessive pulling.
Optional cups or shelf linings require a separate brief and sample approval. A two-piece design needs independent top and bottom measurements, with the chosen size pairing recorded in the buyer’s assortment instructions.
Woven swim shorts instead require waistband, drawcord and pocket decisions. Assess waist adjustment and component placement with any liner included, rather than approving the outer shell before considering the complete garment and its movement.
Coordinated tops can be developed separately through our rash guards page. Keep their neckline and sleeve construction distinct; shared colours do not mean identical elastic details, fit requirements or technical test results.
Swimwear Seams, Liners and Construction Control
Construction instructions should identify fabric direction, panel joins and lining attachment for each suit. Check stretch seams for skipped stitches, rough contact points and uneven feeding against the approved sample before bulk sewing proceeds.
For swim shorts, specify pocket bags, side seams and liner attachment separately. Review the agreed drainage route and drawcord details on a finished sample, keeping optional components visible in the bill of materials.
Initial production pieces should confirm measurements, elastic placement and artwork alignment. Track shell and lining lots together, and refer material or trim substitutions for approval when they could affect fit, appearance or construction.
Sampling and bulk work depend on sourcing, revisions and production availability. Please ask our team for a written schedule for the actual construction; indicative lead times are not guaranteed for every style.
Swimwear Fit, Grading and Material Routes
One-piece suits require torso length, chest or bust, waist, hip and leg-opening controls. Review strap placement and coverage in representative sizes, including movement, instead of relying on one flat sample to establish the range.
Woven shorts need waist, rise, inseam and leg-width checks, with the liner included when specified. Keep wearer measurements separate from garment dimensions and tolerances so grading comments remain clear to the pattern team.
The knit and woven routes also have separate factory-wide capacity references: up to 200,000 and 80,000 monthly pieces respectively. Neither is reserved for swimwear, and the figures are not combined into an order allocation.
Confirm each silhouette’s size set and approved materials before booking production. A change in knit recovery or woven shell weight can alter fit and requires review even when the nominal measurements remain similar.
Care, Branding and Evidence for Coordinated Swimwear
Care and decoration should be reviewed on each actual fabric, not copied across the collection. A transfer suitable for woven shorts may behave differently on a highly stretched suit or a close-fitting top.
Use our sportswear collection to compare adjacent products, including swim shorts and rash guards. Shared artwork and label systems can coordinate the range while each garment retains its own material and testing brief.
Agree methods and acceptance limits for requested chlorine resistance, UV protection, colourfastness or drying claims. Keep results linked to the assessed style and material; ordinary appearance inspection does not establish those technical properties.
Approve fibre, care, origin and pack wording against confirmed inputs and destination requirements. Our manufacturing overview explains the broader process, while the signed sample and evidence file control the specific swimwear order.
Repeat-Order Sourcing and Swimwear Quotation
A repeat swimwear brief should identify each garment by approved pattern, material codes and colour-size ratio. Retain lining, elastic, print and label references rather than ordering by collection name alone.
The working MOQ is 500 pieces per design and colour for suitable new single-piece styles. Custom materials can require higher quantities; confirm the actual shell or knit source before applying a minimum to another style.
Send updated artwork, destination, packing instructions and the required delivery window together. Identify any requested test or claim separately from normal fit approval so sourcing and inspection can account for the necessary evidence and timing.
Compare new material lots against retained standards before release. Confirm revisions, sample approvals and the available production slot in writing, keeping knit suits and woven shorts itemised throughout replenishment planning and shipment preparation.
